The Approach
Built to actually stick
01
Past tenses, side by side
Imperfetto isn't taught in isolation — Lesson 9 puts it directly against passato prossimo so the distinction actually clicks.
02
Grammar you can picture
Every tense and pronoun combination gets a visual memory-map, not just a table to memorise.
03
Practice every time
No lesson ends on theory alone — you'll write, choose, and translate before moving on.
04
A real path to B1
Lesson 16 closes with a full review and a clear picture of what's next after A2.
Questions
Frequently asked
Do I need to finish A1 before starting A2?
Yes, ideally. A2 assumes you're comfortable with present tense verbs, articles, basic adjectives, and the passato prossimo from Lessons 1–8. If any of that feels shaky, a quick review of A1 first will make A2 much smoother.
What's the difference between passato prossimo and imperfetto?
Passato prossimo describes a completed action at a specific moment, while imperfetto describes habitual, ongoing, or background actions in the past. Lesson 9 covers this distinction in detail with side-by-side examples.
Is this A2 course really free?
Yes. All 8 lessons are free to use, with no account, sign-up, or payment required.
How long does the A2 course take to complete?
Most learners complete a lesson in about an hour, and the full course in a few weeks of regular practice — roughly 8 hours of core content in total.
What comes after Lesson 16?
Lesson 16 finishes with a full A2 review. From there you're ready for B1 (Intermediate) Italian, including more complex tenses like the congiuntivo (subjunctive).
Does this course work on mobile?
Yes — every lesson is fully responsive and designed to work smoothly down to small phone screens.
