Just as C1 marked the shift from grammatical correctness to genuine stylistic choice, C2 completes that arc: every lesson in this level added not a new rule but a new dimension of discernment — knowing exactly which register, which connector, which allusion fits this specific moment, and recognizing when someone else has made that same choice.

That's really what mastery means at the top of the CEFR scale: not knowing more rules than anyone else, but reading and producing Italian with the same instinctive judgment an educated native speaker brings to register, form, and reference — the entire subject of this course, distilled into one sentence.

C2 is the top of the CEFR scale — there's no C3 to chase. What comes next is depth, not a new level:

1Wide, unguided reading — novels, essays, poetry, and journalism across genres you haven't deliberately studied yet
2Specialized immersion — pick one domain (law, science, literature, film) and go deep, building vocabulary the course could only sample
3Sustained spoken exposure — regular conversation with native speakers across different registers and regions keeps production as sharp as comprehension
4Writing for real audiences — a blog, a journal, correspondence — production under real stakes consolidates fluency faster than exercises ever can
5Patience with plateaus — at this level, progress is measured in nuance and cultural depth, not new grammar, and it can feel slower even while it continues
🎯 Beyond C2: Consider official certification (CILS C2, CELI 5, PLIDA C2) if you want formal recognition, but the real marker of continued growth from here is simply how much unsimplified Italian you keep choosing to read, watch, and speak.
